We all love taking the horses out locally, but the best part of owning a horse is the opportunities for adventure. Luckily, the United States is full of horse-friendly outdoor recreation areas perfect for the occasional day trip or longer vacation. We are producing a series to bring you information about the horse-friendly parks, campgrounds, and trails across the United States.

Cottonmouth Lodge 4020 Greens Chapel Rd White Plains, Ky 42464 270 338 0909 Do enjoy horseback riding? If so, then Cottonmouth Lodge is the place to be. Our private trails are maintained and offer a variety of riding environments from tree covered woods to open grass fields. For your convenience we have our own stables just a short walk from the lodge and RV Park. Rates: Camp sites and horseback riding $19.00 per night Rough camping or tent with no hookup is $10.00 per night. Stable fees are $5.00 per night per horse. Barren Fork Horse Camp Daniel Boone National Forest Stearns District Ranger PO Box 429 US Highway 27N Whitley City, KY 42653 606/376-5323 Located just off US 27, north of Whitley City. Access road near Stearns District ranger office 41 primitive sites, water for horses, potable water, and toilets. Day use area Fees Extensive trail system in including Sheltowee Trace Trail
